Thursday Update Towne Lake

Happy Thursday Stingrays!

Towne Lake @ Spring Cypress meet will be this Saturday. Please read through this entire email. It has all the information you will need for Saturday. Heat and Psych Sheets are attached.

INVITATIONALS

Deadline for Summer Thunder is this Saturday May 24th @ 4:00pm. Make sure to put your name on the pink poster board if you qualify and want to sign up. Poster is located in the front at sign in. Please stop by the Invitationals table at the meet Saturday (under the covered pavilion) to view our Summer Thunder slideshow and ask Joyce Tao any questions you may have.

VOLUNTEER OF THE WEEK WINNER

We received several great nominations, but the individual with the most nominations was Chris Conger! Here are just a few of the reasons why Chris exemplifies the Stingray’s spirit:

  • Chris stepped in and salvaged the computers and prevented the meet this week from becoming a huge mess. He wasn’t assigned and did it to support his team.
  • This week, when Time Drops got misaligned with the current heat due to an error by the home team’s volunteer, Chris, who was not scheduled to work, came and fixed things at my behest. Within a few minutes of Chris arriving, the home team computer people declared, “he’s in charge.” He stayed at the Time Drops table through the end of the first shift. Chris works all meet, every home meet, prepares extra reports for coaches and board use, and is always willing to jump in and help. We are lucky to have someone like him on our team.
  • Chris went above and beyond Saturday. When the host team had computer issues Chris stepped in and saved the day. And saved the timeline of the meet! Chris and the computer teamwork the entirety of our home meets along with hours before the season making sure all the computer, printers and time drops hardware is ready to go. That is why we have little to no computer issues at home meets. Chris and the computer team earn the opportunity to relax and watch their swimmers at away meets. The pressure of stepping into such a situation is not easy when visiting another team. Chris stepped in with professionalism and grace. The Seals welcomed and appreciated the save.
  • Imperial Oaks Computers Team was severely struggling with the Time Drops system, and although Chris was not required to volunteer, he stepped up to fix the system and run things poolside for a couple hours. Without their efforts, the swimmer's times and scores may have been skewed or worse, invalid.

Please be sure to fill out the google form if you would like to nominate someone for next week -

THIS WEEKS TENT BREAKDOWN

Set Up -- Sch-Si & V    Take Down -- Sm-Sw & Y

*** Morning tent parents (last name Sch-Si & V) will need to arrive at 6:00am to help the roadies

A huge thank you to everyone who helped with tear-down at our last home meet! It's a big job for our Roadies, and they could really use some extra hands. If your last name starts with Sm-Sw or Y, please stick around to help out, and anyone else who's available is welcome too.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Ready Bench, 2nd Shift

TIMELINE FOR SATURDAY

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you arrive on time for your volunteer shift. Especially Tent Parents so kids can get checked in and be ready for warm-ups.

Parents are not allowed to sit in their kids' tents as there is not enough room for all the swimmers to sit and have space. Some of the age group tents are very packed. Please bring items to sit on your own.

Upon arrival if you are volunteering, check in at the Volunteer table. ALL volunteers must check in at the volunteer table before the swim meet begins. Once checked in, take your swimmer to his/her designated tent and check him/her in with the Tent Parent.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are not signed up for a shift but want to volunteer to take over a shift for someone that may not have shown please be sure to check in at the volunteer table first. We need to make sure we have you as the designated volunteer for that specific shift.

If you are not able to fulfill your volunteer shift please email the Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]

PARENTS: Please make sure your swimmer knows who their tent parent is before you leave them and that they know not to leave without their tent parent knowing. Once your swimmer is finished for the day, please do not leave without checking out with your child’s tent parent. Please remind your child to gather their belongings and throw away trash under their tent.

Also, if you notice an issue with your swimmer's time or event place during a meet, please let a coach or board member know as soon as you can. It is much easier to correct things during a meet than afterwards. We will look into it and see whether anything needs to be done. This week, Stingrays have contacted Imperial Oaks about two different timing issues, one of which had to be elevated to NWAL to get corrected. The other was not actually a problem, but it was worth investigating.

ROADIES: Arrive at 5:45am.

TENT PARENTS: Please see Daisy Gilmore upon checking in. Report to your tent no later than 6:25am. Daisy will give you a clipboard with your age group swimmer list and a sharpie. Mark each swimmer using the sharpie for their individual swimming events. When an event for your age group is called, you will need to make sure all swimmers make it to the ready bench. Be ready to receive them at the end of their event and walk them back to the tent.

OFFICIALS: Please report to Bryce Elliott. Officials meeting will begin at 8:00am.

TIMERS & SCRIBES: Meeting will be held at 8:15am

COMPUTERS: Report to the main pool entrance after getting yourself and your swimmer checked in.

CONCESSIONS: Report to the concessions stand after getting yourself and your swimmer checked in.

If there are any issues with completing your shifts or you have any questions regarding shift descriptions please reach out to our volunteer coordinator at [email protected] .
