2019 SC Stingrays Coaching Update - Announcing Our New Head Coach
Dear Stingrays Family,
Happy Saturday! I am reaching out today with good news.
After an area-wide search for the past months, I am pleased to announce our new head coach, Nina Wallace. Nina brings many years of head coaching experience to our team. What impresses me the most about her is that she not only has a competitive drive but also finds it equally important to build the culture of the team and our community. You will find her to be a kind person, a clear communicator, and someone with a bold mission. She has written a personal note to the team that I have posted below my letter. Please help me welcome our new coach!
Assistants
Coach Nina has already begun reaching out to the many qualified assistant coaches that have offered their services to our team (look out for some new faces as well as some familiar ones this year). We will have updates on the assistant coaching staff as soon as we finalize our decisions, and--wow-- we are lucky by the talented individuals who want to be a part of our team.
Strategy
Coach has also laid out a strategic plan for the 2019 season that has five main pillars:
1. Win Divisionals and Top 3 at Invitationals
2. Increase RWB/Ponderosa Qualifications
3. Increase Fun and Team Building/Bonding
4. Open Communication with Team and Parents
5. Coaching Staff that Work Well Together
Contacting Our New Coach Coach
You can reach Coach Nina at [email protected]. Coach is getting ready for her first season with our team, so she will have a lot to do in the coming weeks. Please be understanding if you reach out to her.
Registration is March 18. Are you with us this year?
With great anticipation,
Chris Conger
SCST Board President
From Coach Nina:
Stingray Families,
Hello! My name is Coach Nina Wallace, and I am very excited to announce that I will be the Head Coach for the Stingrays for the 2019 swim season. I look forward to meeting my new swim family and can’t wait to share my love of swimming with each of your athletes.
My love of swimming starting at the age of 8 when I joined my neighborhood swim team, the Wipeouts. My 1st summer I won most improved in my age group and knew I belonged in the water! I joined ATEX year-round club swimming and swam throughout high school at Klein Oak. I have been coaching since the age of 17 and went to A&M where I continued coaching and swimming. I have been the head coach at Mayde Creek High School where I was voted Regional Coach of the Year and head coach for summer league at Heatherwood, Barkers Ridge, and Norchester. I also coached for Mayde Creek Aquatic Club in Katy, specializing in preparing junior high students for the rigor of high school tryouts and practices.
In my personal time, I have three children- Reid 17, Charlie 11, and McKenzie 6- who keep me busy in a variety of sports activities! My husband John and I love going to the movies or plays/musicals downtown. I also have found a new love of indoor cycling. My other hobbies include sewing, Cricut, painting and being outdoors- I love Texas summers!
I can’t wait to meet all the Stingray families and get to work on a winning and enjoyable season!
