Message from the President … Stingrays. I was sad to miss time trials this year for my god daughter’s first communion and birthday in Dallas. From what I’ve heard, everyone stepped up to make it a successful event. Looking at the meet pictures brings joy to my heart.
This week will be a whole new level of fun as we are hosting our first opponent of the year, the Oak Ridge Otters. Keep an eye out for visitors that need help, and please help to show them a warm welcome to our neighborhood.
We will let you know when meet declarations open, which will be tonight or tomorrow. Time trials creates a special problem because of meet makeup times--it requires manual data entry by the computer team on Sunday.
As many returning parents have noticed, we made some changes to the way volunteer signups work this year. The board opened volunteer signups the first week of practice and announced this at the two parent meetings. Some people have loved this and others have not. If you are forced into a volunteer slot that absolutely doesn’t make sense for you, please let me know. Examples include being a tent parent for an age group in which you don’t have a swimmer or a second shift for a family with all 6 and under swimmers. It’s clear to me that we will need to tweak signups a bit next year, but I do think this has been an improvement. Remember, we are all here to cheer on our swimmers regardless of your meet volunteer duty. When you have a child swimming, talk to your fellow volunteers and then go watch!
As a board, we will continue to take small risks to try to make the team more effective and hopefully more fun. I ask for your patience as we iron out the kinks. I listen and take all feedback into account.
The board will also host an open session at the beginning of our board meeting the week after next to give everyone a direct forum to speak to the whole board mid-season.
If you ever have questions or concerns, please reach out to any of the board members, the coaches, or me directly ([email protected]).
Coach’s Corner …Time Trials was a blast and great to see everyone record a beginning point for the season. There is always much growth in the summer league season. As coaches, we know there is a lot skills we will be teaching the swimmers to help them meet their goals in the upcoming weeks. Any practice missed is a skill we may have focused on that day that your swimmer missed. Please try to make as many practices as possible! Looking forward to our upcoming 1st dual meet!
GO STINGRAYS!!!
Individual Pictures … We will have a photographer on May 7th to take individual pictures of our swimmers. You’ll be able to purchase pictures and other items such as buttons, bag tags, water bottles, and even magazine covers. On this day, you’ll want to get to your child’s practice early.
Meet Pictures... Meet pictures are posted, and the SmugMug link is on the website (https://www.scstingrays.net/smugmug-1). Proceeds from SmugMug go to the team. Please don’t post the actual link publicly, but feel free to share with friends and family.

Message from the Volunteer Coordinator ... Volunteer shifts have been open as of 6 AM. As you go in to sign up for your shift, you will notice many spots are already filled. Chris spoke to the change in his section above. There are still lots of available spots left. Please help us fill those shifts so our season can run smoothly.
As a reminder, all of our volunteers that had an exceptional number of shifts last year received a free, limited print, green “Super Volunteer” Stingrays shirt.
