Week at a glance 6/4/17
Good evening Stingrays!
Hard to believe the season is almost finished! Time flies when you are having fun! We gave it a great effort Saturday, however the final score was SCST 694 SHEN 752. Here's the rundown for the week:
HOME MEET vs. RIVERSHIRE: Opens tonight at 8PM. Be sure to catch up on your volunteer shifts if you are short. Parents, please sign up your swimmer for 2 events: at least 1 event they are close to qualifying times for post-season invitationals, and up to one event that they would consider an off-event and haven't swum in a meet recently. To determine which events they are close to qualifying for, see page 11 of the Red White and Blue Invitation, attached. If you have the "cut-off" time listed, you qualify for Ponderosa. Red and blue qualifying times both go to RWB.
RIBBONS: Be sure to clear out your ribbons from the family folders at practices. Its getting full with all your awesome achievements!
BAKE SALE: Our morning Bake sale will be held Friday during practices. We need buyers and bakers! Funds from this sale will go towards the Stingray Scholarship Program.
FUN FRIDAY: wear their crazy/silly socks for our annual Watermelon Relays!
ORANGE LEAF SPIRIT NIGHT: Mark your calendars for Monday June 12th for a Spirit Day at Orange Leaf
PEP RALLY: Save the date for this awesome pre-Divisionals Pep Rally! More details to come
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT: Congratulations to our Stingray family member, Stephanie Carroll for winning the 2017 LLS Woman of the Year raising $291,000! Thank you Stingrays for your participation and generosity in Stephanie Carroll’s LLS MWOY "More Than 4" fundraising efforts.
MESSAGE FROM COACH ELISE: Meet recap: Wow, what an exciting meet we had with the Shenandoah Sharks! There were ups and downs all day long, and what this meet proved to me most of all was that every swimmer, every race, even every dive and every touch, matters more than you can guess. The score from yesterday was SCST 694 SHEN 752. So close! Remember that we win as a team; we lose as a team. We celebrate the wins, and we learn from the losses. Any mistake made yesterday is just an opportunity to have a better race next time. But you matter! Your practices matter, because habit determines what you do on race day. Your showing up matters. Your attention to detail matters. Your effort matters. Your excitement matters, because it catches with all the people around you. I saw some inspiring swims yesterday that caught fire and helped other Stingrays and other relay teams swim fast. What great relay anchors I saw yesterday! And one of the greatest memories from this meet will be watching our seven graduates jump in their gowns. Each of you has left a legacy to our team that is precious. Stingrays, catch the fever!
