Heads Up from Coach Elise 6/7 - 6/11
Stingrays,
Sorry this email is later than usual. I am still recovering from Summer Thunder.
This week we'll be working on breaststroke pullouts, free and back turns, IM transitions, Starts, and finishing fast with the head down and hand below water. We have missed so many workouts in the past two weeks due to weather; please be at every morning practice you possibly can. Only 4 days until our last dual meet, two weeks to Divisionals, three weeks to Red, White, Blue and Ponderosa!
Morning practices are best. The water is cooler and better for working out, the kids are fresher, and there is more time and space for age group specific workouts. If you need to schedule an evening workout, this is only IN ADVANCE and for the purpose of allowing kids to continue to swim who have working parents. I have had more than 30 emails and texts about this today. Please do not abuse the evening swim opportunity. It is not a happy alternative to morning workout.
Please RSVP for the Deerfield meet and sign up your swimmers for 2 events. Before choosing, have a look at your child's possible events at Red, White and Blue (RWB) or Ponderosa (PON). RWB will be a possibility for many of our swimmers. PON is a very fast meet that kids can shoot for in their best events when they are at the top of their age group. If your swimmer is close to cuts in an event (red font on the meet selection page, but within a second), that would be a good choice for this dual meet, especially if they have not swum it in a while. This is easier for a parent to do than for me to look up for every swimmer.
Please note that next week's RSVP and sign up for events will be due by Mon night rather than Tues because our entries are due 24 hours earlier to Divisionals.
